DI, Distilled water system
DI Water system
DI water system is the system that produces pure water or water that have electric conductivity lower than 1 us/cm. DI system is the most common and oldest method to produce pure water. Using Ion exchange resins both cation and anion resin to absorb all of the ionic substances in the water. If input water has a lot of impurities and ion the resin have to absorb a lot of ions, therefore saturated very quickly. Today’s solution to reduce ionic load before the water goes into DI system is to use RO as a pretreatment for DI system. When the resin got saturated they need to regenerate to operating condition in order to do that we need to use acid and base to clean out those ionic substances that have been absorbed by resin. This regenerate process costs a lot of valuable time and requires skill operator to be able to process that safely.
